Introduction to plant medicine: Ceremonial Rapé (Hapé)

By Ivan Kuxan-Sum

Let’s talk about plant medicine, there’s various plant medicines to try but I had my first experience with this beautiful plant medicine called Rapé. Rapé is a Shamanic snuff. I saw a immediate difference within myself. As I looked into the distance I saw a fog lift from over my eyes and I could immediately see clearer. My mind was clearer than ever. It offered me a deep spiritual cleanse and rid my energetic field of any unwanted energies. I had so much clarity, grounding and a boost in energy.

Rape´- pronounced hapeh – is a psychotropic shamanic snuff made from finely ground tobacco, known as mapacho, a rainforest plant.

Also with other sacred plants, including ashes of tree bark, leaves, seeds and other variety of plants.

The fine powder is blown up each nostril of the participants using a two-way pipe called a Tepi.

The purpose of a rape´ ceremony is to offer cleansing, grounding and healing,  before takin Rapé it’s important that intentions are set and made clear before beginning the ceremony. The act of taking Rape´ is considered sacred and a form of prayer by the indigenous Amazonian tribes who were the first to introduce it to the rest of the world.

It’s advised to do your own research before partaking in any plant medicines.
