Mother’s day: A mother’s love

Happy Mother’s day to all the amazing mothers, you’re doing a fantastic job and you’re an inspiration. It may be one of the most hardest jobs but definitely the most rewarding one. It may feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders at times and I’m here to let you know that you are not alone. Surround yourself with good people and that also means having mummy friends that will be able to relate and understand exactly what you’re going through.

Don’t forget that your wants and needs are just as important too. You may find yourself forgetting who you were before you had a child and feel like you’re losing yourself. Some may experience the opposite, we all go through different emotions and have a different experience of motherhood. I myself sometimes have to remind myself that I need to do things for myself and treat myself from time to time. So if you have not yet done anything nice for yourself this month then please make that a priority, it can be anything… big or small.

I know those days when you’re physically and mentally drained and don’t have the energy to get through the day, but somehow your child helps you to regain that strength to push through, because thats what mothers do.. we get on with it.

To all the single mothers, you are a superwoman. I am a superwoman. Repeat, I am a superwoman. Being a single mother is a whole different ball game and I salute you. Whether you’re raising 1 child or 4+ children by yourself, it’s no easy task having to play both the mother and father. We’re in this together and I’m so proud of us. All you can do is keep doing your best.

The sacrifices we make is extraordinary and everyone’s situation is different. Whether intensional or not. We find ourselves skipping meals, losing out on sleep and putting aside our needs, because that’s what it comes down to sometimes. A mother’s love is like no other.

To my daughter, You chose me to be your mummy and I’m so grateful. You’re really a special little girl. You bring so much happiness and love to everyone’s life. I’ve never known a baby to get as much attention as you do. As your aunty Monique said, you’re a shining bright star, your light touches everyone that crosses your path and that’s clear to see.
