Have you ever been pressured to do something you weren’t comfortable with? Or Been attacked by a predator on the road? Felt so fearful and small? Told them no but they continue to force themselves upon you? Been a victim of a family member? Too scared to fight back, so you just lay there and take it? Or been too drunk that you’ve been taken advantage of? Or had your drink spiked by a date raping drug and been too out of it to fight back? so you lay there in guilt asking yourself, ‘was it my fault?’ Felt so ashamed to ask for help? These are all stories we as females know all too well. If none of these hasn’t happened to you first hand, consider yourself lucky because I’m sure you know of someone who has fell victim to these inhuman acts of violence. Read these words carefully and understand, you must forgive yourself. Don’t live in a life full of regret, it will eat you up inside. Accept the fact you can’t change the past, but also accept it has made you a stronger person today. My fellow ladies, look out for one another and seek the Justice you need to heal. This can be simply forgiving them and forgiving yourself. Let go of the guilt and set yourself free.
You are not alone.
A young black girl
“As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.”― Nelson Mandela
